The Birmingham Badminton League has now been running for 50+ years. We currently have 23 clubs, all of which play within eight miles of Birmingham’s Town Hall. The Clubs enter various teams for competitive play in our three division structures -Ladies, Mens,and Mixed divisions. In 2018-19, we have 2 Ladies, 6 Mens, and 3 Mixed divisions, Our season runs from September through to the end of March although many clubs play all year round. All Divisions use the rally points system. League administration is carried out by a Committee of volunteers. We have a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer together with other Officer roles. The Committee meets regularly throughout the season to discuss match issues, and any League matters that arise. This season 2 new Clubs have joined the League. One in Mens Division and one in Mixed Dicision.
Calling all Beginners!
If you are new to the sport, some of our League clubs have special sessions to help you learn the rules, how to play, and tactics too. In Solihull, Solihull and Shirley offer junior and adult sessions. Closer to central Birmingham, Bidgley is co-ordinating a number of family sessions in areas such as Nechells, Moseley and Handsworth through an initiative with the local Primary Care Trust.
